Protect Yourself From Scams

Tipping and Company | Protect Yourself From Scams

We care about your safety and want to make sure that you are aware of the more recent scams currently circulating that could impact you or your loved ones.

Scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, but with the right knowledge, you can avoid falling victim to horrible fraudulent schemes

Here are a few of the current scams wanting your money:

  1. Toll Road Scams: Scammers may pose as toll agencies (without telling which agency) demanding immediate payment or threatening penalties. ALWAYS verify directly through the office of the toll agency itself to make sure you owe those funds.
  2. UPS and Delivery Scams: Be very cautious of emails or texts claiming to be from delivery services like UPS or FedEx. These may contain links asking for payment or personal information. ALWAYS track your shipments through their official websites.
  3. Bank Scams: Fraudsters may impersonate banks, asking for account details or transfers. NEVER share sensitive information over unsolicited telephone calls or messages. Contact your bank directly through official telephone numbers. If it is a credit card scam, HANG UP and call the number on the back of the credit card to confirm any issues.
  4. Utility Scams: scammers claiming to be from power or water companies may threaten to shut off service unless you pay immediately. ALWAYS verify directly with the utility provider before making any payments.
  5. What can you expect: Legitimate businesses will NEVER ask for immediate payment or personal information through unsolicited telephone calls, texts, or emails. If you ever feel unsure, take a moment to contract the company or institution directly to confirm the details.

Your safety is our priority. If something does not feel right, trust your gut instinct and reach out to the entity to always verify.
